Monogramms Black Sea - Times of Mithradates VI Eupator

These pages present a study of the monogramms observed on the bronze Black Sea coins during the reign of Mithradates VI Eupator. They are organized in four groups:

- Index of Monogramms
- Coins and their Monogramms
- Monogramms and Coin Types
- Monogramms, Types and Mints

The pages are structured so that they can be printed individually on a normal sheet of paper from the Microsoft  Internet Explorer.

Index of Monogramms

This is a Thesaurus allocating an identification number (Mo nnnn) to the monogramms. Monogramms differing only in the style of the letters (for example as with Α or Μ) are listed under the same identification number.
The monogramm identification numbers are also given in the statistics pages of the  main coin collection.

Monogramm-Thesaurus

Coins and their Monogramms

This is a collection of coin images and their monogramms listed in groups of types and mints. In the identification number of the tables the 1st digit indicates the type, the following two the mint, and the last two are the consecutive numbering of the tables.

The monogramms are shown as listed in the index of monogramms. The location in the table identifies the position on the coin, in the upper or lower field (usually relative to the inscription), on left, center or right field.  A question mark in parenthesis (?) added to the monogramm indicates that it is partly illegible or off flan, the identification of details is not certain. "Monogramm" 77, two question marks ??, indicates that the monogramm is illegible or off flan and cannot be determined.

Clicking on the image will link to the details page of the collection or to the original image size, if available. More infromation
can be found in the main collection under the heading of the individual mints.
