Cotys IV supported Perseus of Macedonia in the 3rd
roman/macedonian war with 1000 men infantry and 1000 cavalry. A rather
small contribution to the macedonian army of 43000, however, it should
be noted that the Odrysian Kingdom was rather small and weak in that
period of time. After the disaster of the battle of Pydna 168 BC
Perseus fled to Samothrake, from where he tried to sail to his ally
Cotys IV. His flight failed and he was captured by the Romans. The
battle of Pydna led to complete collapse of the Kingdom of Macedonia.
Cotys changed sides and sent his son to Rome. [Ιστορία του ελληνικού
