Nymph / Lion, ΣΑΜ / ΜΑ AR 450-400 BC HGC VII 15; Stolba 1-10 Anokhin
(1998) has attributed a small group of silver coins inscribed ΣΑΜΜΑ to
refugee Samians coining at Nymphaeum, but Stolba (1998), while also
ascribing the coins to Nymphaeum, argues the legend refers to a local
tyrant, and Melnikov (1992) suggests they were issued ny a Scythian
dynast. [MacDonald, 2005, p. 25]
