The Golden Horde was one of four Mongol dynasties founded by sons and grandsons of Chingiz (Genghis) Khan. The others were the Ilkhans, Chaghatayids, and the Chinese Yuan Dynasty. This is a silver dirham, 18.5 mm in size and weighing 1.13 grams, struck during the reign of Toqtu (AH 689-712/ 1290-1312 CE). It was struck at the Qrim (Crimea) mint and is dated AH 690. It grades a bold VF, well centered with some striking weakness. Toqtu’s name is very clear on the last line of the obverse. The reverse has the mint to the right of the tamga and the date below.
