Zeus standing left, clad in himation crowning the name of the king with wreath in right hand; left hand resting on long sceptre; below outstreched right arm, eagfle left on thunderbolt; below, monogramm; below ΔΠΡ (year 184 = 114 BC); downward on right, ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ, on left, ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ / ΝΙΚΟΜΗΔΟΥ. From the reign of Nicomedes II all regal tetradrachms of Bithynia bear dates according to an era commencing 298 BC (Sear, Greek Coins, 2000 ).
