1.8-3.0 mm 8:00 o'clock EF ΜΑΚΕ / ΔΟΝΩΝ above and below thunderbolt in double circle in the center of a Macedonian shield decorated with seven eight-pointed stars within double crescents, each separated by three pellets. ΠΡΩΤΗΣ // ΜΕΡΙΔΟΣ above and below club right, monogramm below; all within oak wreath bound left with star to left. Ex CNG Triton VII/205, 11.1.2005 Amphipolis mint. Unpublished ... This unique didrachm is significant in two respects: It is the only coin on which ΜΕΡΙΔΟΣ is stated rather than implied as it is on the corresponding tetradrachms, and until its discovery, only tetradrachms were known to have been issued from the first ΜΕΡΙΣ under the Roman authority [CNG].
