Fortress on the
Propontic coast of Chersonesus, to the south of present-day Bolayır
Iskelesi. About 520 BC Miltiades of Athens build a wall across the peninsula from Paktye to Cardia to stop the Apsinthioi from invading the Thracian Chersonesus. The Thracian tribe of the Apsinthioi from the region between Ainus and the gulf of Melas used to raid the neighboring Dolonkoi on the Peninsula. Alcibiades retreated here in 407 BC after the loss of his position as strategos. |
