- / - σmax(SigmaTest, 240 Hz) = 7.8 MS/m (obv. 7.8; rev. 7.8) Jugate heads of the Dioskouroi right, wearing wreathed piloi. Two horses advancing right; TOMI above; ΠOCEI beneath; all within incuse. Countermark male head wearing petasos right on obverse. The magistrate name ΠOCEI appears often on coins of Tomis
with a variety of reverse dies, the coin attribution to the time of
Roman dominion is therefore clear. Symbols of the
Dioskouroi and foreparts of horses are also often
present on the reverse. The heads of the dioskouroi, however, are
typical for the coins of the kings of Scythia Minor who reigned
during the same period of time. This could be an indication that these
kings exersized some control over Tomis. The countermarks would suggest
that Rome resumed control.
