1861   Stamps of Sardinia used for Italian consular mail in Alexandria.  20 Cmi; 40 Cmi Sasonne R 3 Original stamps of Sardinia, 1855/1863 Michel 12/13 " DA ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO " Before the opening of the Italian consulate, the consul used stamps from Sadinia and shipped the mail with British steamers. Mail was canceled in Modane, at the French/Italian border.
